“ Must get the Hainanese chicken, very tender and juicy. There's 3 sauces for dipping and the scallion ginger one is the best. Fettuccine in Cuttlefish Ink Sauce was pretty good. Flavorful and good portion. The curry combo with fish ball, fried pork skin and white radish was average. Don't recommend the clam in white sauce. Just imagine clam boiled in milk/cream and white wine. ”
“ Today was my birthday and my wife asked me where I wanted to dine out with our two kids. I mentioned a few options, and asked for her thoughts. She mentioned having gong to Yummy Yummy with some of her girl friends recently. I agreed and we headed out there. We arrive about 6:45pm and most of Bell Blvd, 48th Ave or adjacent streets surrounding the restaurant are paid metered parking till 7pm Mon thru Sat, and Free Sundays. On the side roads if you walk further you'll notice where the paid metered parking ends there is free public parking. My wife called ahead and made reservations for my birthday for 7pm. In conversation they reserved us half a Hainanese Chicken. That was a good idea because the place was packed at 85% full when we arrived. This evening was cold and a cold breeze would rush in when the front door was opened. This restaurant has its own style. It's clean, well lit, ceiling fans in the front half with wood planks hanging vertically evenly space like steps getting lower toward the front of the restaurant. The planks are burnt with texture and they seemed to absorb sound making the restaurant atmosphere less noisy with so many patrons talking - it was comfortable and you could hold a conversation. The tables and chairs were sturdy, clean, and did not rock or creak. The wait staff were courteous and attentive. If you speak Cantonese you'll enjoy your dining experience because my wife conversed with our waitress asking about dishes before we ordered. We ordered the following dishes and am listing them in the order they were served. Roti Pancake - we ordered two which was served with a small bowl of curry chicken with chucks of potato. Cumin Pork Knuckles - served in a plastic basket they were crispy and mouthwatering savory. Fried Beef Chow Fun - my son immediately mentioned the dish had Wok Hei, the beef and noodle was savory. Steak with Back Truffle and Mushrooms - The beef was tender , with thick slices of mushroom and potato, and the truffle infused sauce was delicious. Hainanese Chicken - there was a slight wait on this dish. The chicken was tender and moist, served on a bed of thinly sliced cucumbers. A sauce tray with four sauces accompanied the chicken adding to the flavor of this dish. * I'd recommend any of the dishes we ordered, but my top favorites were the Chow Fun and Steak. Normally I'd have provide pictures of all our dishes, but the food did not disappoint so I was only able to ask at the last moment ask my daughter to snap a quick picture of the Hainanese Chicken which I'm still waiting on her to forward to me for this review. *Now posted Payment - We were told they didn't take Discover, and listed MasterCard or Visa, and cash is king. I gave Yummy Yummy 5 Stars based on the food, service, and atmosphere. There are more and more quality Asian restaurants beyond Manhattan/Chinatown, , Brooklyn/Chinatown, and Flushing/Chinatown. I'd rate it $$, but I'd keep in mind that prices have been rising. *One unofficial litmus test I'd point out is that if an Asian restaurant is patronized by a high number of Asians regularly there is a high chance the food is good. ”
“ Hainanese Chicken is very tender! No wonder is their signature. I definitely recommend this dish to everyone. Boil Clams in White Sauce is out of my expectation. I thought the cream is going to be thick, but actually it taste light, however, is still milky and creamy. Ice Babao is one of their desserts but it's the most impressing dish that I have in this restaurant. They have rose sugar, coconut sugar, condensed milk mix with ice, peanut, rose jelly, panang jelly, it gives me a rich texture, and definitely the best dessert in summer. The only thing that I disappointed is the beef is too chewy Super surprised by all dishes here. The staffs are friendly and overall it is a good experience having lunch here ”
“ Hainanese Chicken Half (5/5) - $22 The Hainanese Chicken was boneless authentic Singapore Hainanese Chicken was super flavorful. It looked plain but it was delicious. I highly recommend!! They came with four different sauces and each one was super tasty. I really enjoyed the red sauce since it was a bit spicy. Fried salted egg yolk calamari (4.5/5) - $19 Fried calamari rings with salted egg yolk. It was pretty good if you enjoy a nice crunch with a buttery rich taste. Sambal Grilled fish (4/5) -$29 The sambal Grilled fish with banana leaves in sambal sauce was an interesting dish. The fish was very soft and savory. I wouldn't say it's the best but i would recommend if you like fish. Extra The waiter was attentive filled up our tea many times It is a bit pricey ”
“ Great and friendly customer service. Hainanese Chicken is a must try. The recently renovated Yummy Yummy is well decorated and designed. Enough seats for regular seating with 2 VIP / Private room for larger party and KTV. The concept of having a new Southeast Asian and Mediterranean Fusion in the neighborhood is fun. For once, you can try unique Southeast Asian flavors on your seafood, fish and Vancouver crab. However, at approximately $80 - MP for a Vancouver crab in Chili Sauce was not really worth it. The lack of meat in it was quite disappointing. If I was to get any seafood with chili sauce again, I would go for a non-market priced item. I would also recommend chili sauce over the others. If you want to try their salted egg yolk flavor, you can grab that from the calamari in the appetizer sector. On the other hand, Sambal Grilled Fish and Mediterranean Sea Salt Baked Whole Branzino are a showstopper. I must note, the Sambal Grilled Fish can be on the spicier side. Paella de Mariso (For 2) can for sure can feed more than 2 if you are ordering additional dishes. Compared to traditional paella which is more dry and charred, this rice is on the more watery and moist side. Because of that, the flavor of the rice can come out fishy from all the seafood toppings. I think there is definitely room for improvement for this dish. Overall. Besides the Hainanese Chicken and Chicken (Yellow) Rice, all the other dishes are just okay. Is it still worth trying? Yes. Is it on the pricier side for portion and flavor? Yes. Is the staff friendly? Yes. ”
“ Thank you for bringing singaporean delicacies to this area!! I've been craving the chili crab taste and you guys nailed it Love love the salted egg calamari!! You won't be disappointed, super tender, and meaty Thai ice tea was delish as well!! And they also speak Hakka which is a huge plus ”
